By any evaluation, Hans religionist Andersen’s “Snow Queen” (1845) barely instantiates sex normativity. The lie explores a variety of arguably homosexual and homosocial as well as arguably somebody and heterosocial relationships: shared (sexual) attraction between a young boy (Kai) and an individual woman (the cocaine Queen); bilateral (sexual) attractive feature betwixt two children (Gerda and Kai) who, although not biologically related, are raised as siblings; and mutual (sexual) attractiveness between Gerda and the individual women and girls she meets on her travels. In “Snow Queen” live-action films and broadcasting versions, cinque of which I discuss here, the ways in which protagonists ordain the story vary.
